School Rules

At Corky McMillin Elementary, our school rules are simple, clear, and guide everything we do: Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. These expectations help us create a positive and supportive environment where all students can thrive. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or during school events, we encourage our students to make thoughtful choices, treat others with kindness, and take ownership of their actions. By following these three core rules, we work together to build a community where everyone feels valued, protected, and empowered to do their best every day.

Dress Code

It is expected that parents and students will use good judgment with regard to proper school dress. Student clothing must not present a health or safety hazard, or a distraction which would interfere with the educational process. Students should come to school dressed to go outside each day, year round.

  • Open toed shoes are not permitted. Students should wear closed toe shoes to protect their feet.
  • Students are not permitted to wear clothing with offensive or inappropriate language or pictures on them, nor those that promote violence and/or alcohol or other drugs. The wearing of inappropriate or offensive clothing will result in the the student turning their clothing inside out, or a need for parents to bring a change of clothing to school.
  • Use of sunscreen is left to parental discretion and will not be applied by staff.
