Principal's Corner

Dear McMillin Families,

My name is Jacqueline Gracia, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the Principal of Corky McMillin Elementary School. I’m looking forward to another incredible year of learning, growth, and connection.

At McMillin, our vision is simple yet powerful: to create an inclusive learning environment where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow. We are proud to offer three full-day Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classrooms and four classrooms designed to serve students with extensive support needs, reflecting our commitment to meeting every learner where they are. One of the key ways we bring our vision to life is through our co-teaching model in the upper grades. This innovative approach places two certifcated teachers in the same classroom, allowing for more personalized instruction, deeper collaboration, and a richer, more engaging learning experience.

Beyond the classroom, we offer a strong Visual and Performing Arts program that includes music, dance, media arts, and visual arts, giving students the opportunity to explore and express their creativity. Additionally, our LEAD program offers a variety of after-school clubs that allow students to discover new interests, make friends, and have fun while extending their learning.

McMillin is also proud to support our Military students and families through our Anchored4Life program and our military counselor. We were recognized again with the prestigious Purple Star School designation, reflecting our ongoing dedication to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for military students and families.

The staff here at McMillin truly believe that that strong schools are built through strong partnerships with families. Some of the ways you can get involved and help make our school community even better by:

  • Joining our PTA (Parent Teacher Association)
  • Serving on our School Site Council, or as our DAC/DELAC representative (District Advisory Committee and District English Learner Advisory Council)
  • Participating in ELAC (English Learner Advisory Council)
  • Volunteering in classrooms or at school events
  • Cheering students on at performances, spirit days, and celebrations

No matter how much time you have, your involvement makes a difference—and we truly appreciate it.

I encourage you to explore our website, connect with us throughout the year, and be an active part of all the exciting things happening here at McMillin. Whether you’re new to our school or a returning family, welcome! We’re so glad you’re here.

Let’s make it a fantastic year full of learning, laughter, and community—together. And remember…it’s PAWSitively Great to be a Beagle!

Warmly,

Jacqueline Gracia
